Asian Pacific Islander Coalition’s Community Briefing [01.21.2014]

Dear Asian Pacific American Community Leaders and Activists,

Happy New Year!  You are warmly invited to a community briefing, next TUESDAY,
JANUARY 21, 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm, at Asian Counseling and Referral Service
(ACRS).
There will be a briefing and discussion on the legislative
agenda the Asian Pacific Islander Coalition (APIC) is considering for our 2014
Asian Pacific American Legislative Day.  The issues we propose include
health and human services, education, immigrant rights, civic participation,
and others.  We will be interested to hear if you think these are
appropriate, and if you have others we should consider.

We welcome your presence and feedback on the legislative agenda we are forming.
Although we are not organizing thousands of participants go to Olympia on
APA Legislative Day this year, we are sending a delegation and also want to
encourage our community members to contact their legislators and the Governor
on that day to support the APIC legislative agenda or specific issues within
it.  Everyone is welcome to attend the community briefing, and we will be
especially grateful to community leaders and activists who can take the message
back to their own constituencies in their languages.

Please contact my assistant, Sam Heng, at samnangh@acrs.org,
or at 206 695-7582 to RSVP by 1/17

so he can arrange for enough seating and light refreshments, as well as enough
copies of the briefing papers on the issues.  There will be light
refreshments from 5:30 pm and the program will be from 6:00 pm – 7:00pm.
A flyer is attached if you would like to post it or forward it.  Thank you!

Looking forward to seeing you there,
