2012 AAPI Summit

The Asian Pacific Islander Coalitions (APIC) of King, Pierce, Snohomish, Yakima, Spokane Counties, South Puget Sound, Southwest Washington, and organizations statewide, invite you to join us at the 2012 Asian Pacific American Summit: Celebrating Unity & Civic Involvement, on September 21st, 2012, at the Tacoma Dome Exhibition Hall.

Register for the APA Summit

Since 1997, we have joined together with community leaders and interested supporters across the state to bring thousands of community members to Olympia on Asian Pacific American Legislative Day to hear from the Governor and to speak with their legislators about issues of concern to the Asian Pacific American communities. We supported equal access to safety net services provided to our state’s residents in general and immigrants and refugees in particular. We have promoted and defended culturally competent and language accessible health and human services for the most vulnerable in our community, and have advocated for our civil and human rights, in such areas as racial profiling, affirmative action, education, immigration, and minority businesses.

In 2004, 5000 people attended the first statewide Asian Pacific American Summit for a day of voter education and civic engagement. This event was the largest of its kind in the nation. This year, we are taking the next step to promote greater Asian Pacific American civic participation in the democratic process. While celebrating the unity of our communities state-wide, we will also hold multilingual forums for candidates for Governor and U.S. Senator, as well as showcase cultural entertainment, our organizations, and businesses.

This event, like the 2004 Summit and past APA Legislative Days, is organized by a grassroots volunteer effort. Thanks in advance on behalf of our community for your support.
